Turmeric Anthotype Prints Workshop

June 20 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

On the Summer Solstice, Tett Artist-in-Residence Meenakashi will lead a workshop where participants will create Turmeric Anthotype prints. Turmeric, known for its vibrant colour and integral role in Indian cuisine, contains curcumin, a compound that acts as a photosensitizer. This means it reacts chemically when exposed to light, making it ideal for printing images using a technique called anthotype.
Anthotype, developed in the 19th century, utilizes plant emulsions and sun exposure to produce images on porous surfaces such as paper and cloth. During the workshop, each participant will produce three original prints using this unique method. They will also gain hands-on experience with a new printmaking technique that can be easily done at home.
Ages 16+ | $10
