🌈 PWYC Performance: Heartbroken in the Driver’s Seat, Stories of Queer Heartbreak

June 6 @ 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Join us for a special event centred around the theme of queerness with Tett Artist in Residence Meenakashi Ghadial, perfectly timed to coincide with Kingston Pride Week in June.
During the studio visit and artist talk, Meenakashi will showcase the work she has been developing throughout her residency. Meenakashi explores the car as a safe, liminal space for Queer people of colour and a platform for challenging heteronormative practices within Sikh wedding traditions. She will discuss how this recurring motif shapes her work and its ongoing evolution.
Following the discussion, Meenakashi will present a performance titled “Heartbroken in the Driver’s Seat: Stories of Queer Heartbreak.” This performance stems from her exhibition at the Union Gallery, “LOVE ENDS. BUT WHAT IF IT DOESN’T?,” where she invited Queer visitors to share their heartbreak stories. The performance aims to amplify these diverse stories, providing a supportive environment for sharing experiences of heartbreak and shedding light on the loneliness often felt in Queer heartbreak.
This is a Donation/Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) event, with a $5 donation encouraged. You have two options to participate:
Option 1: Studio visit + performance
Option 2: Performance
