Melos Choir & Period Instruments, under the artistic direction of Holly Gwynne-Timothy, presents “Magnificats – 15th-18th Centuries”, featuring four settings of the Magnificat: a haunting, 15th Century Cambridge setting; Monteverdi’s majestic 1601 setting with cornetti and sackbuts; Sister Isabella Leonarda’s setting for strings and choir; and J.S. Bach’s famous Magnificat, BWV 243, with Baroque trumpets, oboes, traverso flutes, and more! Saturday, June 1, 7:30pm at St. George’s Cathedral, 270 King St. East, Kingston.
Melos welcomes internationally renowned Baroque interpreters: David Roth, baritone; Paul Sanvidotti and Andras Molnar, trumpets; Etienne Asselin and Roman Golovanov, cornetti; Victor Houle, Baroque oboe; Jin Cho, traverso flute; along with local guests: Chantal Brunette and Joseph Dashney, sackbuts; Jennifer Day, Baroque trumpet; William Egnatoff, traverso flute; Walter Kipp, Baroque oboe.
