Please join Dr. Sumon Majumdar and the Queen’s Economics Department in welcoming Nobel Prize winning economist and Queen’s alumnus Dr. David E. Card as he presents “Cause and Effect and Evidence-based Policies” as the 2024 W.A. Mackintosh Lecturer on Thursday, September 19 from 4:00-5:30 pm, in Stirling Hall, Room C.
Dr. Card is a labour economist, best known for his research on minimum wages, immigration, education, and inequality. He received his BA in 1978 from Queen’s University and his PhD from Princeton. In 1995, he received the American Economics Association’s (AEA) John Bates Clark Prize, awarded to the economist under 40 who has made the most significant contribution to the field. He was President of the AEA in 2021, and co-recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 2021.
