Cultural Creativity Series: Indian Folk Art “Madhubani” with Herman Kaur

September 14 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Join us for a beginner’s workshop on “Madhubani” or “Mithila” Art, one of the most popular Indian folk art forms. Originating from the Mithila region of Bihar, India, Madhubani painting is renowned for its intricate and eye-catching geometrical patterns. These vibrant paintings often depict people’s connection with nature, scenes from ancient epics, and deities, and are traditionally used to represent rituals during festivals and marriages.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of Madhubani painting and explore some of the key motifs used in this beautiful art form. Participants will have the opportunity to recreate one of Herman’s original Madhubani paintings.
This workshop is part of the Cultural Creativity Series at the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning, which aims to foster cultural learning through artistic creation. Participants will explore various art forms from different cultures, learning about each culture’s unique expressions, history, and context.
